How to distinguish true and false activated carbon
1.Directly look at the indicators provided by the manufacturer
Common adsorption indexes of activated carbon mainly include iodine adsorption value,carbon tetrachloride(CTC)adsorption value and methylene blue adsorption value.Iodine adsorption value is used to represent the adsorption capacity of activated carbon for liquid substances,carbon tetrachloride adsorption value is used to represent the adsorption capacity of activated carbon for gas substances,and methylene blue adsorption value is used to represent the decolorization capacity of activated carbon.
The higher the three indexes,the stronger the adsorption capacity of activated carbon.Therefore,when purchasing activated carbon,you can choose activated carbon suitable for your own use according to your own use and in combination with these indicators provided by the manufacturer.
2.Look at the volume
In order to improve the adsorption performance of activated carbon,we can only make pore structure on activated carbon as much as possible.The more pores,the looser the activated carbon,and the lighter the relative density.Therefore,good activated carbon will feel lighter.In the case of packaging with the same weight,the volume of good activated carbon will be much larger than that of poor activated carbon.
3.Look at the bubbles
Put a small amount of activated carbon into water.Due to the penetration of water,the water will gradually immerse into the pore structure of activated carbon,forcing the air in the pores to be discharged,resulting in a series of very small bubbles.A small bubble line will be pulled out in the water,and a faint bubble sound will be emitted at the same time.It is very interesting.The more intense this phenomenon occurs and the longer it lasts,the better the adsorption of activated carbon.
4.Look at the decolorization ability
Another manifestation of the adsorption capacity of activated carbon is the decolorization capacity.Activated carbon has the magical ability to turn colored liquid into light or colorless,which is actually caused by the fact that activated carbon adsorbs pigment molecules in colored liquid.
